This 2D/1N tour was created because admission to Machu Picchu was sold out. Our government authorized the sale of up to 1,000 tickets per day, which are sold in person in the town of Aguas Calientes. These tickets are valid for the day after purchase. Therefore, our clients must arrive in the town of Aguas Calientes the day before, very early in the morning, to complete the process. It’s not easy! But we will provide the appropriate support and assistance.
NOTE: However, in the town, there will be many tourists seeking admission tickets to Machu Picchu. This will give you a clear idea that everyone will want to buy Circuit 2 to visit our Machu Picchu Sanctuary. It will definitely be our goal, but the purchase of the income will be subject to the availability of spaces offered by the government at that time. If Circuit 2 is not available, we need to choose between Circuit 1 or Circuit 3.
Why is it necessary to leave Cusco very early?
Please note that many tourists arrive in our country without having entrances to the Citadel of Machu Picchu, who also want to acquire the same entrances as you, generating a logical competition for said entrances. Knowing this situation, MINKA’S Travel needs to ensure the purchase of tickets for our clients; to avoid risks or surprises, we organize a very early departure from our city to take the first train and be among the first in the queue.
Upon arrival, we register to obtain a numbered ticket, which allows us to buy the entrance to Machu Picchu for the following day. Our priority is Circuit 2. In the event that this circuit is unavailable, we will opt for Circuit 1 or Circuit 3, all of which are subject to the availability of spaces at that specific moment.

From 2:50 to 3:00 a.m. We will pick you up from your accommodation and then head to the Ollantaytambo train station to take the 5:05 a.m. Expeditions train to the town of Aguas Calientes. The train ride will offer you spectacular views of this wonderful Inca land, with impressive landscapes of mountains and valleys, Inca agricultural terraces on both sides of the valley, snowcapped mountains, and subtropical rainforest near La Ceja. From Pachar, the sacred Vilcanota River will accompany us until we reach Aguas Calientes (2040 m), known as Machu Picchu Pueblo.
Around 6:35 a.m., when you get off the train, our staff will be waiting for you outside the train station, will welcome you, and head to the Government Office, where we will form a short line to obtain and purchase your ticket to Machupicchu, which will be for the next day. Afterward, our staff will escort you to your accommodation, where you can leave your belongings and find the best breakfast spot.
Afterward, you’ll wait for check-in and settle in to rest. You’ll be able to walk around the town, visit the Machu Picchu Museum, or relax in the hot springs (good for your digestion and skin). Finally, around 7:00 p.m., your guide will visit you for a briefing and explain the next day’s plans..
In the morning, after breakfast and depending on your schedule printed in your income to Machu Picchu, our tour guide will pick you up from your accommodation to take you to the bus station and take the bus to Machu Picchu. The trip takes approximately 25 minutes. Upon arrival, you and your tour guide will enter Machu Picchu, “The Old Sacred Mountain.” The tour lasts more than two hours, visiting the main sites and areas such as the great Intiwatana, the Temple of the Sun, the urban area, and the agricultural area, among others.
This citadel is where the last emperors, priests, and priestesses took refuge, and where the empire survived for 40 years after the arrival of the Spanish. This secret and mysterious citadel dates back to the time of Emperor Pachacutec Inca Yupanqui (9th Dynasty), the alleged builder. Its existence was known only to the authorities and priests of Tawantinsuyo, “The Four Lands of the Empire.” Machu Picchu, a marvel of aesthetically stunning architecture, stands out for the majesty and harmony of its forms, for the impeccable organization of its terraces, stairways, buildings, courtyards, and passageways that form this “condor nest” between the sierra and the jungle.
Return to Cusco
At the end of the tour to Machu Picchu, the bus ticket to the town of Aguas Calientes is included, where you can find the best place to eat, and then be ready to catch the return train.
The train we have chosen is the 6:20 p.m. departure time (please arrive at the train station 20 minutes early to avoid any delays while boarding). Which will be at the Ollantaytambo train station, after getting off the train, transportation provided by PERU RAIL from OLLANTAYTAMBO to the City of Cusco is included, where it will drop you off at the Peru Rail station and there our private transportation with our MINKA’S Travel logo will be waiting for you, to then take you to your Hotel in the City of Cusco.
