Itinerary

Visit the Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu in and in an exclusive trip with 4 star hotel in Aguas Calientes

Around 07:30 a.m. to 07:40 a.m. we will pick you up from your accommodation in Cusco and then head to visit the Majestic Sacred Valley of the Incas where you will enjoy its beautiful landscapes, immersing yourself in history and culture and getting different stops at the following places: Chinchero, a small town famous for its spectacular mountain views and traditional textile weaving centers. We will continue to visit the amazing Inca Terraces of Moray, unique among Inca sites in the Sacred Valley, believed to be an elaborate agricultural laboratory. Each terrace has an exceptional microclimate, allowing the Incas to determine the optimal growing conditions for different crops. Then, we will head to the famous Maras Salt Mines, where locals, since pre-Incan times, have obtained salt by evaporating warm salt water from a local underground stream. Around 1:00 – 1:30 pm, we will stop for a well-deserved lunch (not included) near this beautiful area.

To continue, we will head to Ollantaytambo is an archaeological site and living town in Peru’s Sacred Valley. It’s known as the “Living Inca Town” because it’s the only Inca town that’s still inhabited. The town’s streets, houses, and infrastructure are mostly built by the Incas, and the residents still practice some of their traditions. This site includes a fortress, temple complex, stone terraces, granaries, and ceremonial areas.

After finishing the tour, we will head to the train station where we will take the 3:37 p.m. train to the town of Aguas Calientes. Upon arrival, you will disembark at approximately 5:00 p.m., and our staff will be waiting outside the train station, welcoming you and immediately escorting you to your government office, where a line will form. You must present your passport and obtain a numbered ticket that will allow you to return to the same government office the next day, respecting the numbering printed on the ticket from 3:00 p.m. onwards, and purchase your permits to Machu Picchu for the third day.

After receiving your numbered tickets, you’ll head to your accommodations to settle in and rest. Afterward, more relaxed, you can head out to find the best place for dinner and then return to your hotel to finally rest after a full day of activities.

Today, you can enjoy a leisurely breakfast, then take a stroll through the small village and relax in the hot springs (a 10-minute walk). In the afternoon, you are encouraged to have lunch, then rest at your accommodations starting at 3:00 p.m., according to the schedule provided to you. You will return to the government office to wait in line again, carrying your passports and respecting the number printed on your ticket, to purchase your entrance to Machu Picchu for the following day. With your permit in hand and fully confirmed, you will have the afternoon free to rest.

Finally, around 7:00 p.m., your guide will visit you at your accommodation to provide a briefing and discuss your plans for the following day.

Chinchero Maras Moray Ollantaytambo and the Visit to Machu Picchu Luxury Tour by Minkas Travel

In the morning, after breakfast and depending on your schedule printed in your income to Machu Picchu, our tour guide will pick you up from your accommodation to take you to the bus station and take the bus to Machu Picchu. The trip takes approximately 25 minutes. Upon arrival, you and your tour guide will enter Machu Picchu, “The Old Sacred Mountain.” The tour lasts more than two hours, visiting the main sites and areas such as the great Intiwatana, the Temple of the Sun, the urban area, and the agricultural area, among others. This citadel is where the last emperors, priests, and priestesses took refuge, and where the empire survived for 40 years after the arrival of the Spanish. This secret and mysterious citadel dates back to the time of Emperor Pachacutec Inca Yupanqui (9th Dynasty), the alleged builder. Its existence was known only to the authorities and priests of Tawantinsuyo, “The Four Lands of the Empire.” Machu Picchu, a marvel of aesthetically stunning architecture, stands out for the majesty and harmony of its forms, for the impeccable organization of its terraces, stairways, buildings, courtyards, and passageways that form this condor nest, surrounded by mountains, between the sierra and the jungle, as the most extraordinary constructive feat of pre-Hispanic man.

Your Return Journey to Cusco

At the end of the tour to Machu Picchu, the bus ticket to the town of Aguas Calientes is included, where you can find the best place to eat, and then be ready to catch the return train.
The return train we have considered is around 7:00 p.m. (please be at the train station 20 minutes before). This train will take you to the Ollantaytambo train station. Upon arrival, you will get off the train, and the same company, INCA RAIL, will provide you with transportation to Cusco. Once you are in Cusco, our staff will wait for you outside the INCA RAIL bus terminal and will return you to your hotel, arriving around 11:00 p.m.

IMPORTANT: Guided tour in Machu Picchu will be in Private service.
